Emergency Help 9-1-1 is to be used in emergency situations. An emergency is any situation that requires immediate assistance from the police/sheriff, the fire department or an ambulance. If you are ever in doubt of whether a situation is an emergency, you should call 9-1-1.
What is a Maintenance Emergency? An emergency situation occurs when a home or property is being subjected to significant structural damage or when damage to the property has created a hazardous situation. The event is serious and you cannot contain and control the situation until the next business day.
What is a Maintenance Issue? Inconvenient maintenance issues are frustrating and worrying, but they can wait to be addressed until the next business day, because significant structural damage is not occurring and the property is safe and habitable.
If you find yourself needing to wait until the following business day for maintenance service, try some of these strategies for common maintenance issues:
If your stove needs repair: utilize alternate cooking methods such as the microwave or a crockpot or an electric griddle.
If your dishwasher needs repair: hand wash dishes or choose to use disposable dishware.
A small water leak: often, small water leaks can be stopped by closing a shut-off valve, placing a container under the leak to catch water, or not using that area of plumbing until the next business day when maintenance staff is available.
The furnace stops working: if you have an alternative source for heat like a gas fireplace or woodstove, please use that. Evergreen has several electric space heaters you can pick up at our office for your use. You can call the maintenance line, 971.654.4842, and a staffer will be contacted to arrange a time to meet you at the Evergreen office to pick-up space heaters.
The refrigerator stops cooling: If you have an extra refrigerator in the garage, please use that. Evergreen has large coolers you can pick up at our office for your use.
